Topic 2: The role of parents

As teachers are aware of the influence of family and peers, since they are a role model in the classroom (Cooper, 2011), parental empathy refers to the capacity of parents to understand things from the child’s aspect, since empathy focuses on the child’s experiences to understand of the self and other adults (Stern, Borelli & Smiley, 2015). When parental empathy is cultivated, this has positive effects to the development of children, because parents can supply a secure base for children to express their emotional experiences (Stern, et al., 2015).u00a0

Consequently, teacher-parents are very important and have to be filled with consistency and understanding and shared goals for the child.
