In-country A, there is a dictatorship imposed by the military for the last 15 years, since the birth of the child. The dictators’ group (junta) is very conservative and they try to control every aspect of people’s lives. The use of force, the suppression of individuals and the mass spread of propaganda are common practices within this country.

Obstacles that Have Adverse Effects on Children’s Quality of Life
Question: Based on General Comment No17 and after reading WHO’s definition (WHOQOL Group, 1995) below for quality of life, identify various obstacles opposed by the societal systems which have adverse effects on children’s quality of life.
“An individual’s perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns. It is a broad ranging concept affected in a complex way by the person’s physical health, psychological state, personal beliefs, social relationships and their relationship to salient features of their environment”.
